Physical Therapy

Licensed physical therapists treat patients with neuromuscular and/or musculoskeletal disabilities, and emphasize quality of life through prevention of disability. Instruction in the use of assistive devices and development of exercise programs helps achieve the maximum level of functional independence.

Occupational Therapy

Registered occupational therapists evaluate and treat physical and psychosocial dysfunctions, emphasizing quality of life through prevention of disability. By recovering physically, patients minimize and prevent deformity, muscle atrophy, response to pain and impairment in social relationships. Assistive devices and task modifications are also utilized to compensate for the disability.

Speech/Language Pathology

Experienced speech/language pathologists treat patients who demonstrate disorders of human communication, changes in speech patterns and swallowing. Treatment methods include proper production of speech sounds, proper control of vocal and respiratory system for voice production, and learning language and speech skills through word recall and comprehension. Often, patients have experienced a CVA, tracheostomy, laryngectomy or neuromuscular disease.

Early Intervention

Early Intervention supports families of infants and toddlers, ages birth to three years, with developmental delays and disabilities.  Early Intervention services are provided in a child’s natural environment (home, daycare/preschool, community).  Early Intervention providers observe and participate in families’ daily routines and activities and build on the things families do every day to support their child’s learning and development.
Blue Mountain Therapy partners with 8 local EI systems, providing speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy.  If you are concerned about your child’s development be sure and discuss with your child’s pediatrician and contact your local Infant & Toddler Connection.   For a complete listing of ITCVA localities, visit or call the Virginia Statewide Central Directory at (800) 234-1448 for local contact information.
