A Note From Clint Waddell | Co-Founder of BMT:

Blue Mountain Therapy was founded in 2013. Prior to BMT I had been working for other people and instead wanted to create an environment where I was working with others. I was faced with my employer closing their doors and I had a decision to make. Do I look for work elsewhere, or do I create the work I was looking for?

I chose to create work. It was important for me to create a work environment that focused on putting patients first and making it a place where people were inspired to work.

As a kid, I grew up two houses away from a rest home, aka Assisted Living Facility, owned by my grandparents and later by my mom and aunt. This experience was invaluable. I grew up being able to appreciate the elderly, disabled, homeless and the forgotten. When my friends would come over we would perform magic shows and play games at the home with the people that lived there. Some of the ‘residents’ were some of my best friends. I would play basketball, board games and manhunt with them. These are some of my best memories as a kid. I remember at some point after opening BMT that my former business partner asked me if I thought about how strange it was that when he would come over as a kid that we’d hang out at the rest home. That’s when it hit me that it was strange for them, but it was part of my normal. I’m very thankful for my ‘normal’.

When BMT first opened, we were providing Home Health and Early Intervention therapy services. For Home Health, some of our patients lived in the Assisted Living Facilities. I had come full circle.

What was hard for others to see became perfectly clear to me; my experiences during my upbringing set me up for my professional career. I’ve been very fortunate to have some great people help me along the way with BMT. It’s become a true work family.

July 5, 2016 my life was turned upside down. I went in for an abdominal hernia repair. What was expected to be a same day surgery turned into a 42 day hospital stay. My aorta was severed and I had approximately 12 surgeries over a two week period of time. I still have some permanent conditions that I deal with, but I’m truly the luckiest person I know. I’m happy to have the problems that I have. I wouldn’t change the events of the medical mishap. I’ve been given a second chance at life and I’m making the most of it.

We’ve been blessed to grow as a company into new opportunities. We’re now able to offer the following services: Home Health Therapy, Early Intervention Therapy, Therapeutic Consultation, ABA Behavior Therapy, Pediatric Outpatient Therapy Services  (Physical, Occupational, Speech-Language Pathology) and Public School Contract Therapy Services.
